Jennie Finch Explains Her Last Minute Song Change on ‘DWTS’
Jennie Finch did a last minute change of her song on “Dancing With the Stars: Athletes” this week, which made it pretty hard for her partner Keo Motsepe. Us Weekly shared all about why Jennie made this choice and it had to do with her faith and being a mother.
Her original song choice was Janelle Monae‘s “Make Me Feel.” They had the entire dance pretty much ready to go and then she made the decision to change it up. Jennie explained her reasons.
“Just as a mom, it’s not something we listen to in our house. And my fans, my audience, is young girls. I don’t know of anything more empowering than a man sticking by a woman, and following her gut and her heart, not feeling comfortable, and I wouldn’t be able to stand on that stage — I have a 5-year-old daughter — and be proud of what we’re doing in the song choice that we had.”
At first, they were just going to change up the wording, but then Jennie decided that there are so many good songs there was no reason she had to do that song. Instead, she picked a new one. Jennie said, “I want to glorify God out there, and that just wasn’t a great choice for me to do that.” Keo was able to redo it all and they rocked their Cha-Cha on the show Monday night!
