‘Bachelor’ and ‘Bachelorette’ Success Rate

Can you base a relationship off of one overnight stay and a few dates? Apparently, this year’s Bachelor thinks so. In a shocking turn of events, the season was rumored to be cut short because Colton Underwood sent home two out of the three contestants.

The last three women to be on the show were Tayisha, Hannah, and Cassie. Of course, this seasons favorite Cassie won.  Colton was recorded saying “Cassie makes me feel complete.” Isn’t that just the sweetest thing?  Cassie’s father understandable was concerned about his daughter getting engaged to a man she hadn’t known for long. His concern begged me to ask the question How many couples are actually successful from both the Bachelor and Bachelorette?

The Bachelor started in 2002 and has a total of 23 seasons. Throughout the twenty-three seasons, there have only been two success stories. The first of which a lot of people don’t count it as “real win”. The thirteenth season Bachelor Jason Mesnick took fans on a wild ride as contestants dropped a favorite emerged. Melissa Rycroft was picked out as the favorite in the final three and would eventually end up with the ring. As the season finale aired, we see Mesnick call out Rycroft and apologize before taking his ring back. Then the runner up Molly Maloney was called out. Fan were shocked when he asked her to give him a second chance and he agreed. They got engaged in October of that year and then three years later had a daughter Riley Ann Mesnick. They are still going strong.

The second success story is 2017 Bachelor and winner Sean Lowe and Catherine Guidici. Over a year after he proposed to Catherine Giudici on his season of The Bachelor, the two were married on January 26, 2014, in a live televised ceremony performed at the Four Seasons Resort Biltmore in Santa Barbara. They later had a child together and are still together to this day.

Statistically, 57% of the bachelors propose and of the 57 percent, 73 percent break up within six months. Although the Bachelor doesn’t have a high success rate the Bachelorette is much more successful. Out of 14 seasons, six couples are still together. The success rate is 43%. A pretty good amount for a reality tv show. In total, combined 21% rate. Some of these couples include the first season Bachelorette and winner. They’ve been married ever since. If that’s not inspiring then I don’t know what is!

Don’t miss “The Bachelorette” when it starts airing on ABC in May.
